CONTACT USBrakewell Steel, Inc. opened for business in the State of New York in February, 1969.
We characterize ourselves as an AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) certified steel fabrication job shop. What this essentially means is that we work with carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum with the ability to fabricate practically any product or custom item that uses sheet, plate, and miscellaneous structural members.
Our fabrication predominantly involves shearing, NC punching, CNC plasma burning, high-speed computerized drilling, bending, rolling, saw-cutting, and welding. Our customers are typically iron shops, general contractors, structural contractors, erectors, public agencies, or machinery manufacturers and other industrial concerns.
Brakewell does not perform any Engineering or design work, therefore we fabricate from drawings designed by and approved by architects or engineers. These drawings conform to recognized industry standards and specifications. In many cases, especially for jobs for public agencies like the NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCDEP, DEC, MTA, TBTA, and the Port Authority of NY/NJ, we are required to submit welding procedures, pre-qualification paperwork, quality control information, and/or other technical information prior to beginning work on the jobs. During many of these jobs, these agencies assign an inspector for the duration of the project to insure fabrication is done in accordance with drawings, procedures, and industry standards. Brakewell has maintained its AISC certification in three categories (Steel Building Structures, Simple Steel Bridges, and Bridge and Highway Components) since August, 2009.
